Hey ,
Happy Sunday again my friend!
I trust you had a great Easter and took some time to do some reflection.
Question, what do you know (or remember) of Jamaica's ring games?
Not just childhood games in general, but ring games in particular?
Well, I have a little reminder (or lesson) on them for you today, thanks to my associate Kesha!
It's actually 10 of them - the most prevalent/ popular ones back in the days (some even now still). For me it brings back great memories!
Here is the link:
Be sure to read and share with someone.
And yes, that's my featured article for this week!
And now our..
After months of waiting, I finally managed do PART 2 of the promised two part series, capturing the 18th-century styled cane sugar production with Mr. Buggs.
Yes, he's still doing it the the same (old time) way they did it in the 1700s, in deep rural Westmoreland
He didn't hold back at all and everything is in this brand new video.
Learn and enjoy!
Please be sure to share a comment. And if you like it, please share it with someone, the more the merrier.
Featured Jamaican Product
Yesterday I was listening to Prime Time news on TV and heard that some of the high school athletic coaches lamenting the indecision on the Boys And Girls Athletic Championships (Champs) this
year.
Mention was also made of the fact that many of the overseas remittances that Jamaica now enjoys came back from student athletes who migrated and made a life of their own outside of Jamaica.
And it dawned on me.... how come I didn't (as far as I can remember) highlight our athletes as yet? Not a single one per say but them, as a group.
The truth is if we go many places in the world they associate Jamaica with great athletics - male and female.
And so, today I highlight our athletes as one of Jamaica's premiere products. /
You wouldn't argue with that right?
Remember Ms Ina?
That's the lady who I featured baking Easter Bun last week.
Well, out of the blues she called me on Friday and gifted another of her speciality baking; cornmeal and sweet potato pudding!
Yes, you saw that right! It is both in one!
It was lovely!
So today I thank you publicly but also salute her for the awesome work she does, helping to retain our great culinary heritage.

Did you know...
... that Montego Bay became Jamaica's second City in 1982?
So right now, Jamaica has officially two cities;
The capital Kingston, and Montego Bay.
Portmore in St. Catherine is poised to become the third anytime now though.
This too, is yet another interesting fact from my 101 Intriguing Facts About Jamaica book.
Mr. Edmund Bartlett reported that we (Jamaica) recorded a major increase in stopover arrivals over the Easter holiday weekend, with the island recording the highest number of visitor’s since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He indicated that according to preliminary data from the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB), Jamaica recorded some 14,983 visitors to the island from April 1 to 5, 2021!
And that, year-to-date, Jamaica has welcomed some 209,930 passengers to the island, 164,157 of which were tourists!
And that's it for today my friend, remember, please continue to stay #SafeAndSane.
