Happiest of Sundays to you again !
I thought that subject would have piqued your interest - and it seems it did :-)
But today I want to quickly share something Jamaican, but more 'duck' with you :-)
Something I found quite fascinating.
It is the Duck Flower!
Have you ever heard of it?
If you pause a sec and do a quick google search online you'll likely see some amazing things about it and for good reason.
And so, after Natasha reached out to me, asking about it here in Jamaica, I did a bit of research and put this insightful article together (below). Take a read and let me know what you think of it my friend.
And this week's video is exactly about that, the DUCK FLOWER. I went back up in the hills where I captured it in its natural habitat :-)
Please be sure to share a comment. And if you like it, please share it with someone, the more the merrier.
Featured Jamaican Product
Did you know that over 3000 species of plants grow here in Jamaica? And that 27% of them are endemic to here?
While on the subject of the duck flower, I thought I'd let you know my friend.
So today's feature is not so much a particular product or plant, but about the all flora of this blessed little island.
You can read more about it in this article I posted sometime ago: https://www.my-island-jamaica.com/plants_in_jamaica.html
Today's recognition is a personal one.
It's my friend and former ROJ work colleague, Andrew Peters, who tied the knot yesterday, and ushered in a new chapter in his life.
Congrats my friend! I wish him lots of love and happiness
Did you know...
... that an earthquake of 1907 claimed the lives of over 1,000 Jamaicans?
It lasted about 20 seconds and said to have demolished the city of Kingston.
Damage was estimated to be over two million pounds sterling at that time. It happened on January 14th that year.
This too, is yet another interesting fact from my 101 Intriguing Facts About Jamaica book.
Last week marked the beginning of a new chapter in American politics with the installment of a new president.
On behalf of all Jamaica, I wish all my friends (and family) in the US well, especially at this time when the world is grappling with this terrible pandemic.
And yes, please continue to stay #SafeAndSane.
Thank you my friend :-)
