What a week! Whew!
Hey , happy Sunday my friend.
It's the biggest item in world politics now; Joe Biden has defeated Donald Trump and will be sworn in as the 46th president of the United States Of America.
It looks like the American people have spoken! And so we wish him and the leadership of the country all the best in this term.
Back home, I say Congrats to Mark Golding who defeated his lone challenger, Lisa Hanna to replace Dr. Peter Phillips as the leader of the Peoples National Party.
I wish them both well as they re-unite to create a formidable opposition in the interest of Jamaica's democracy.
But back on site...
Did you know that (in addition to housing) you can get a loan from the National Housing Trust to purchase land here in Jamaica? Oh yes!
In fact, Lloyd, who is living overseas, asked the question about how to get it, and so we reached out to the NHT and advised him, step by step.
You read our full response post on that here (link below):
Be sure to read and share this piece of useful information.
And that is our featured article for the week.
But we have other great new posts on site as well, be sure to check them out here on the blog.
And now my...
This pandemic has caused major depression and distress.
Outside of those who might have lost loved ones or themselves infected, there are still many more who are unable to travel because of the country and quarantine requirements.
I have several friends who would have otherwise been here in Jamaica at this time for example, enjoying the beach but are not able to.
And so today, I woke up and decided that I am going to bring the beach to them!
And so, here's a video of the world famous Doctors Cave Beach in Montego Bay, not so much for the excitement but to capture the soothing ebb and flow of the waves and the calm, peace and tranquility it brings.
Enjoy!

Today's special Jamaica feature is our iconic, James Bond Beach, the place where several scenes from James Bond Movie, Dr. No., was filmed, yes right here in Jamaica!
It is even more timely with the recent passing of the legend himself, Sean Connery!
James Bond Beach is located in Oracabessa, St. Mary, just about sixteen (16) kilometers outside (easterly) of Ocho Rios.
The beach sits on a scenic and secluded peninsula, a preferred spot for some of our top concerts that has featured some of Jamaica (and the world's) top artistes including Ziggy Marley, Lauryn Hill and Rihanna.
This week's special recognition goes to an ardent subscriber from our 'youth arm', Tamika Williams.
Tamika, now a last year college student, has not only been with us since high school, but have been actively engaging with the content.
She reached out to me directly a few days ago for some guidance on an assignment she had. And of course, I grabbed the opportunity to help!
Thanks again for the opportunity Tamika - and thanks for been one of our most ardent subscribers!
Did you know...
...that the Peeny-Walley beetle is found only in Jamaica?
According to a newsletter from the University of the West Indies, Mona, a gene of the endemic Jamaican click beetle, Pyrophorus plagiophthalamus (Elateridae), is patented abroad and use for bioluminescence imaging in oncology, genetics and environmental sciences.
This too, is yet another interesting fact from my 101 Intriguing Facts About Jamaica book.
With both the US elections and our local party (PNP) elections now out the way, surely there will be some winners and losers.
I now use our small stage (and ask that you to do the same) to encourage the winners (including their supporters) to reach out to those who are hurting and try to mend the divide.
And also, please don't forget we are in a pandemic and so the basics are still required. Please all, let's be responsible.
Blessings, talk to you soon!
