Hey ,
Happy Sunday - and Happy New Month mi fren :-)
And since I probably won't speak to you again until next week, help me wish Jamaican actor, cultural icon and the undisputed 'boss' of Jamaican comedy, Oliver Samuels, a wonderful day, this Wednesday!
You can read more on the comedy maestro here.
So yes, we are officially in November today; not just the penultimate month of the year, but the month that many consider to be the best time to visit Jamaica, oh yeah!
In fact, we were asked a question on that and we responded with a full article which turns out to be our featured article this week.
Be sure to read, share a comment, and share.
And now my...
I recently returned from a short trip to the US, but while onboard, I decided to take some shots for my girls (they are fascinated about planes and air travel).
But I got some great clips from above the clouds, and so I decided to put them in a video and share with you as well.
I've already gotten comments to say how much the video brought back glorious memories of visits to Jamaica
And it is especially appreciated considering the lockdowns and travel restrictions.
So here's the short video, I hope it brightens your day :-)
Featured Jamaican Product
Today's Jamaican feature is the iconic 213-feet deep Blue Lagoon, right here in Portland, Jamaica.
The Blue Lagoon has been a wonder for many including top movie stars and famed international artiste who have shot movies here, Brooke Shields and Boyz2Men are notable mentions.
I wrote an article on it sometime ago, capturing 7 Interesting Facts (& Fictions) about this breathtaking beauty.
You can read it at this link: https://www.my-island-jamaica.com/blue_lagoon_jamaica.html
And now this week's special recognition and appreciation.
This week's shout out goes to Daryll Dobson, another of my ardent subscribers.
Daryll has been actively engaging with my content from Day 1, but recently, he reached out to me on a personal matter and so we had a little more engagement.
So today, I'm recognizing you my brother - I knew you'll be reading this :-)
Did you know...
... that Jamaica is credited for perfecting the lovely game of Domino and taking it to the big stage? Oh yeah, You can read more on the sport of dominoes here.
This too, is yet another interesting fact from my 101 Intriguing Facts About Jamaica book.
The historic election in the USA is just a matter of hours now.
I'd like to encourage my peeps back there to, if not already done, take the time to exercise your franchise. The NYTimes provided some great tips here.
But I hear about potential challenges with mail-in votes (which is probably late by now), so it seems the best option is in person.
Either way, the rest of us here will be looking in earnest and hope that, at the end of the day, the will of the (majority of the) American people will be recorded.
Blessings, talk to you soon!
