Moooorrrrning again !
And happy 'Sun' day to you and yours my friend!
Most of the days of the last week has either been rainy or extremely overcast, and so its refreshing to see the Sun coming through again.
There has been quite an interest in it and so I think I'd share it with you.
But my special highlight this week is this (link below), 10 traditional (and still dearly loved) Jamaican snacks!
But be prepared to salivate, even if you've recently had any.
And yes, we included BussMiJaw!
I bet you didn't remember that one :-) Did you?
As usual, please remember to share.
And now my...
Meet Mark Reid, a poultry farmer way in the hills of Mafoota in St. James.
And when I say poultry I mean all types of birds/chickens including Pigeons, Geese, Turkeys, Geese, Ducks, Guinea Fowls, Chickens, doves & More!
He also has horses, donkeys and rabbits!
And he does it, according to him, purely because of his love for animals.
He is hoping however to open the experience to children and visitors who wants to learn more about the animals, and I dear hasten to say, those who wants to experience #TheRealJamaica!
It was quite a fascinating experience for me and yes, I have it in this video!
Here is it (below), enjoy!
Featured Jamaican Product
I've spoken multiple times on the website about Jamaican Jerk, in fact, we have it on record as a proud product of Jamaica.
But do you know where this modern version of an ancient tradition started?
Oh yeah, the 'home' of authentic Jamaican jerk is Boston Jerk Center, near Port Antonio in Portland.
Boston Jerk Center is an organic, literally home grown rural mall, focused around jerk cooking.
It is argued that you really can't say you've had real Jamaican jerk without getting it here :-)
And so, today that's my highlight, Boston Jerk Center.
Kedeshia, one of my associates, listed it as #1 of 10 must do things while in Jamaica in this article.
Today's special recognition goes out to Christine Beatty from Florida!
Chris is an ardent subscriber and last week she reached out to me to send her heartiest appreciation for this my weekly newsletter and the work on the website
To be honest with you I didn't even remember I had a donation page as it was hardly ever used by anyone but I certainly appreciated it.
Oh yes, I know you are reading this Chris :-)
Thanks again my friend!
And I'll grab this opportunity to again say thanks to my JamHearts community whose ongoing support encourages me in so many ways. You can see their names at the end of my videos. Thanks teamies!
Did you know...
... that the parish of Manchester is Jamaica's youngest parish?
It was created on December 13, 1814, from the surrounding parishes of St. Elizabeth, Clarendon and Vere, which were then separate parishes.
This too, is yet another interesting fact from my 101 Intriguing Facts About Jamaica book.
The feedback on the need for traditional Jamaican Christmas was extremely encouraging, thanks to all those who responded.
So stay tuned, I do my due diligence and make an announcement next week.
Blessings!
