Happy Sunday to you and yours !
By the way, did you know that today, October 11, is the anniversary of the day (in 1865) that Paul Bogle and the other freedom fighters, journeyed from Stony Gut to Morant Bay, which led to the beginning of the Morant Bay War?
Just thought I'd share that with you since we are in the heritage season :-)
Anyway, today I'll highlight our response post to a rather timely question.
And although this one is about a starting a same day loan business here, general information and references are also provided for starting businesses in general here.
As we celebrate heritage month, I grabbed the opportunity to capture some of the items that I believe embodies and symbolizes our heritage, thanks to Sonia in the Montego Bay market.
From the old-time coconut floor brush, to the zinc bath pan and coarse salt, we got it :-)
Here's the video!
Featured Jamaican Product
This one is a bit unusual, yes, but it's a fact.
In 2018, The Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) copped the prize for the best performing stock exchange in the World, yes the world!
Last year, it came yet again in the top 5!
As a Jamaican, I'm proud of its achievements, and so this week, before it eludes me, I'm recognizing it as a featured Jamaican product!
You can read more about the Jamaica stock exchange here:
This week I recognize Mr.Barr!
Yes, he's an offline friend of my-island-jamaica.com, but I ran into a bit of challenge and needed some ideas and he extremely helpful.
If you've been keeping up with my videos, you'd likely remember him in this video; yes the same man without hands who has been impressive in his business ventures!
Thanks again my brother!
Did you know...
... that Kingston formally became the capital of Jamaica in 1872?
Prior to this, Sante Jago De La Vega, now known as Spanish Town, was the capital, which earlier took the status from Seville, St. Ann.
You've likely heard about the challenges our students here have been encountering with the lack of the resources to facilitate their online learning (Since Oct 5)
As a result many are been left out of the loop. In other words, school are continuing without them! And in most cases, it's the most needy.
And I've been thinking what we - myself, you and our community could do.
Let me know if you'd be open to help in some way or if you have any idea.
Based on your feedback, we would determine which route to take.
Thanks in advance.
But outside of that, please continue to stay safe my friend, remember Covid19 is still not over!
Blessings
