Hey ,
Happy Sunday again to you my friend! I hope you and yours are well.
It has been quite a week here, and yes, Covid19 continues to be the talking point with the increasing numbers and impact on all sectors.
But the major talking point was the passing of a gentleman who is known for his midnight shades, flamboyant yet rootsy attire, a 100 megawatt smile and a compelling stage presence which complemented his mellow baritone vocals.
Who is he?
Yes, he is The Honourable Fredrick Nathaniel ‘Toots” Hibbert, O.J.
Considered the father of Reggae Music, the three-time festival song winner, passed on after being hospitalized with respiratory challenges and being placed in a medically induced coma. He was awaiting COVID19 test results.
Thanks to my associate, Kesha, we have a complete article, highlighting the life of the legend. I invite you to read it here (link below):
A sweet soul, Ms Lorna, aka Pumpkin, overcame many illnesses, including a broken blood vessel in her brain to continue her passion for farming.
Now she sells the BEST pumpkins in town, I can vouch for that :-)
I visited her farm in Cacoon in the hills of Hanover, right here in Jamaica.
She did a little farm tour with me, teaching me, in addition to other things, how to easily identify a fit pumpkin, regardless of the type :-) I even got to see how sarsaparilla grows!
And yes, I have the full tour on video, just for you :-)
Featured Jamaican Product
According to Senior, in her book, Encyclopedia of Jamaican Heritage, more than 1200 caves and shafts are documented in Jamaica, but there are even more to be discovered!
It is believed that most of Jamaica's water flows via these systems underground. And they are not just just significant because of that, they have produced great scientific information.
For example, in 1920 the fossil remains of a specie of Jamaican Monkey, called Xenothrix mcgregori, was discovered in one of our caves!
They also found remains of a flightless ibis called, Xenicibis xympithecus.
And so, our caves also forms an important part of our history and tourism product.
Just about six (6) weeks ago I posted a video celebrating and appreciating my YouTube fans and subscribers for helping me to get to the enviable feat of 10,000 subscribers.
And guess what, by the end of last Friday (night), that number doubled!
We are now 20k and the snowball has already started!
And so I say to you , as I say to all my YouTube subscribers, a HUGE thank you for the love an support my friend.
Because of your shares, YouTube is also recommending my videos more!
It is truly a blessing, so again I say thanks!
Did you know...
..that Jamaica is blessed with a host of industrial and structural minerals?
These include gypsum, silica, clays, cement (from limestone), marble, lime, copper and even gold!
I have a challenge for you :-)
We should be resuming school on October 5, what reservation or recommendations do you have amidst the increasing Covid19 cases.
Simply respond to this email with your feedback.
Thanks in advance.
In the meantime, please continue to #StaySafeAndSane.
