Happyyyyyyyyyyy Sunday !
Well it's over, whew!! - for the most part!
As you know, we had our general elections on Thursday and the ruling Jamaica Labour Party crushed the Peoples National Party (PNP), with one of the largest margins in the history of Jamaica!
And as you can imagine, emotions are still high (at both extremes)
As it stands now, the margin is 48 JLP to 14 PNP, with 1 tie (Eastern Westmoreland) and possibly some magisterial recounts, but the celebrations continues for the JLP.
My associate Deon, has provided an insightful recap; I invite you to read it at this link (below).
You know that sugarcane is key feature in the history of Jamaica right?
Well, there is a gentleman, perhaps the last of his kind, who despite modernization and improvement in technologies, continues to process sugar can the same way it was done in the 1700's, oh yes, believe me!
I not only met up with him, I observed the process - and yes, I have it in video for you my friend.
Here is the link below.
Featured Jamaican Product
You know, it's always good to LISTEN.
When I asked Mr. Buggs, what makes Jamaica special, his response... "Sugar", as in Sugarcane.
That was a bit unusual to be honest, but when I thought about it, while he explains, I realized why he said that. Not only did sugarcane helped to shape Jamaica historically, it is also the raw material for much of Jamaica's top products including world-classed Jamaican rums - you know some of
them!
And so my featured Jamaican product today is.... of course the Sugar Cane!
It came from Donald.
"Man I love your videos, my wife from American is having such an appreciation for Jamaica because of your content! Big up yo self mi boss!!"
It's very humbling and gratifying to see my work having such an impact, really.
So thanks to Donald (and his wife) for appreciating my work but also taking the time to reach out to me and sharing their feedback.
Did you know...
... that around the time that the English defeated the Spanish and claimed Jamaica in 1655, there were not even 17,000 persons in the island!?
oh yeah!
I have another interesting video in the 'pipeline' (no political pun intended) for you next week.
Whatever you do, don't miss it, OK.
And please, stay safe!
Blessings
