Happy Emancipation Sunday !
... if I may call it so :-)
Well, as you know, yesterday we celebrated Emancipation day here, even though relatively low keyed because of the Coronavirus.
But it gave us another grand opportunity to reflect on where we are coming from as a people and nation.
- What initiated it
- The Emancipation Act
- Its limitations
- The apprenticeship period
- When we gained full freedom & above that,
- How this day became a national holiday here.
But as we celebrate freedom and independence this week, there is a lady I'd like to bring to your attention, Melissa.
Melissa's job is a garbage collector, but there are few quite as independent, proud, passionate and dedicated as she is.
I had pleasure interviewing her a few days ago.
Be sure to read this article (below) that I wrote about her interview.
Please be sure to read - and share.
And now, my...
Today you also get the Combo!
I have Melissa's (The garbage collector) interview for you - in video!
Very inspirational.... pleas pay attention to what she had to say to the other ladies 'out there'.
You may also watch it in the frame below.

Did you know...
...that on his second voyage to the New World in 1494, the tip of the Blue Mountains in Jamaica was the first land sighted by Christopher Columbus!
Well, now you know!
Last week I told you that a friend of mine and fellow community member Treisha, achieved a Top 10 position in the JCDC's national gospel festival finals with her song, ONE DOSE, remember?
Well, the competition (voting) ends today, Sunday, August 2 (4 pm Jamaica time).
So again, let's give her our support...
Call or Text the word vote to 18764444210 (same for local and overseas).
The challenges with the phone are now fixed, I was told.
Each vote takes just $25 JMD.
Blessings.
