Its "Emancipendence" time again and the buzz is all across Jamaica.
This year, the official tagline is "Proud & Free, Jamaica 53"! It sound nice nuh true?
Yes it does.

Yes we are! And the events and activities are all across the country.
Among the activities include:
- ‘Live Music Tuesdays’ in every
parish;
- ‘Independence Conversations’;
- A National Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, July 27;
- Island-wide Emancipation
vigils;
- Emancipation Jubilee; Mello-Go-Roun; and
- the Grand Gala.

Scotts Hall Maroons, A New Tourist Attraction?

As the Scott’s Hall Maroons in St. Mary prepare for
the annual August 1 celebration of their culture and heritage, they are also charting plans for the area to become a major attraction.
The plans include the development of an ancestral burial ground and a small pool of
water in the area, said to have healing properties.
