Hey ,
Happy Sunday to you and yours again my friend🎉
A bit of twist for you today - but still education (and fun)🤗
Last week, Bro Sonny, my late aunt's husband, celebrated another birthday anniversary here.
You might remember him in this video - an 87 year-old returning resident who left Jamaica to Jamaica during the Windrush period, and spent the greater part of his life there.
Anyways, long story short, I went to visit him to show him some appreciation.
And of course, that
meant catching up on some old Jamaican and UK matters😊 - he's always quick to tell these tales and stories.
But I've been reflecting on some of this today🤔
You know the irony in them (he and the many others who rushed to England then)?
It was actually the
total opposite to the initial move/ objective of the colonizers! In this case, the United Kingdom (UK).
The legendary Jamaica poet, Ms Louise Bennett-Coverly, put a satirical spin to it in one of her most famous poems, and called it "Colonization in Reverse".
Today, I thought I'll share it with you - a bit of
history is good - but even better with a little humour and satire right?😊
Here's the link to the poem:

Of
course, I'd love to hear what you think?
Please be sure to respond and lete me know.
And of course, please share this article, the more the merrier!
