Hey ,
Happy Sunday to you and yours again my friend. And thanks for the concern.
Perhaps like you, many did not get the chance to
touch base with me personally post Hurricane Beryl, but I know they were thinking about us, so again, much love and thanks!
Many persons, especially on the south coast are still 'picking up the pieces' and there are still many places with power outages, including my own hometown back in the west.
But according to the Light & Power company, we are just over 90% restoration now - and I know they have been
pushing really hard, so we are hopeful.
By the way, the government of Jamaica has also launched a Hurricane relief portal (https://disasterfund.opm.gov.jm) that provides updates and statistics, as
well as provide avenues for persons to contribute.
I spoke about on this page where I highlight the latest on hurricane Beryl
restoration efforts.
And that said, two quick things:
- I thought I'd widen the perspective a bit and bring your attention to other natural disasters that are, despite a low probability, still pose a potential threat to Jamaica, thanks to Aneisha!
And yes, the list does include hurricanes
too!

Did you guess that lightning would have been a part of it?
I'm curious. And...
- You've likely heard of (or remember)
hurricane Gilbert right?
To date, it is still the most deadly hurricane on record for Jamaica, with over 40 deaths!
I have some personal memories that I shared here, but also included some statistics for your information.
