Hey , Happy Sunday to you and yours again my friend!
Today I continue to focus on the nature and the environment but on a more
somber note. Did you know that we have list of animals that are now considered endangered? If you watch my YouTube channel you'd realize how much, especially recently, I focus on nature - herbs, fruits etc. Yes, I developed a new and greater appreciation for all God's creation and so when I heard about these endangered species it jolted something in me. So anyways, Ven listed 12 of them in a recent article and I thought I'd share that article here with my newsletter family. My hope is that it will increase awareness, but also to
encourage active participation where possible. The listed included... - Jamaican Iguana (Cyclura collei)
- Jamaican Boa (Chilabothrus subflavus)
- Jamaican Coney (Geocapromys thoracatus)
- Giant Swallowtail Butterfly (Papilio homerus)
- Jamaican Slider Turtle (Trachemys terrapen)
- and more!
We use it traditionally as an antidote for poison but is way more versatile than this. It is the Jamaican bissy, aka Kola Nut - yet another in the series on medicinal plants of Jamaica! In addition to the fact that it was used to make the famous coca- cola drink, this plant/ nut offers a range of health benefits including enhanced focus, digestion support, weight management, and respiratory health. It possesses antioxidant, antimicrobial,
and anti-inflammatory properties, while also being traditionally used for headaches and migraines. You are in for another treat! Here's the link (embedded below). And remember, if you like this episode, please LIKE it on YouTube, and if you love it, please SHARE it with a friend or family member on WhatsApp or Facebook, the more the merrier! One More Thing!
Early last week I met up with one of my cuz who was visiting from
London.
You might have heard me said it in the past that my Grandpa, along with 4 or 5 other brothers and one sister, left here to the UK in the 1940s and 1950's.
Some to join the UK military, and the rest to rebuild England via the Windrush! That's another story, but anyways, she is a daughter of one of my uncles.
(As you might imagine, the bulk of my Gayle family is in England now) Long story short, we took her to the old family home and the resting place of our fore-parents here. It was the first time visiting her roots so, as you can imagine, not only was it an emotional moment for her, it was for us too!
I'm just saying that to say that family is everything my friend, please cherish it. Anyways, that's it for today, thanks for continuing to stick with me,
and as usual, please remember to stay #SafeAndSane Blessings & Regards, Wellesley Gayle
