wellesley@my-island-jamaica.com My-Island-Jamaica Digest Ezine: November 27, 2022 Hello again and happy Sunday to you and yours my friend!
This Q&A series is getting
sweeter and sweeter 😋 And yes, this week we answered another interesting question What's that
again? Exactly! It is 🤔How Do I Not Look Like A Tourist In Jamaica? Here are some general points
to consider (or share with a friend) ... - Dress (Appropriately)
- (Don’t Wear) Flip Flops
- Don’t Be Entirely Unsure of Where You Are Going
- The Back Pack
- Learn Some Local Expressions
- Etc.
- Etc.
And you bet, yes, I have more for
you! Here are three (3) other great reads from this week: - Can Jamaicans Have Two Wives?
- Do You Need A Permit To Build A House In Jamaica?
- The Top Family Resorts In Ocho Rios
And still, there's more! Remember that I also have several more great content on the website via the blog, so kindly stop by and check them out. And now, the...
In this series, I continue to showcase the *potent* medicinal herbs of Jamaica, but I'm going to be honest with you, this one was a shocker for me!
So in the human body, silica is essential for bone formation and
the health of connective tissue. Healthy hair, skin, nails, and flexible arteries would be impossible I understand, without silica. Silica is critical to our well being, but it's difficult to assimilate from a normal diet. But did you know that Bamboo actually possesses the richest amount of silica of any other plant?
To be exact, bamboo contains 10 times (1000%) the amount of silica than stinging nettle or horsetail herb!😲 Watch learned farmer and herbalist, Ms. Lawrence, as she shares this amazing information! But stay, there's some bonus information there for you too 😍 Here's the link (embedded below).

I love it so much when I get inspiration from these videos! And today is no different! That bamboo video reminded me that our 'wild' bamboo, the Bambusa vulgaris or common bamboo, an open-clump type bamboo species which is endemic to Jamaica is also the preferred species for pulp production!
I learned that in an article on Forbes
Magazine sometime last year! Here's the link. So now you know!
I, for one, has always been clamoring for us to utilize our natural resources to improve our GDP, so this is just testimony again to the potential and how blessed we are!
So hail to the bamboo! The Bambusa Vlugaris, which is endemic to Jamaica!
Recognition
If you stopped by my website in the last two or so days, you would have probably noticed a refreshing new design. Did you? It actually has been on the cards for a while and finally got it done! What do you think of it? I'd love to hear.
This new design though was done by the team at SBI. Those are the folks that host my web site. But NOT just hosting, they gave me everything I needed to run a thriving online business.
So today I say a HUGE thanks to Mike, Bonnie and the rest
of the team for there support and this redesign. Thanks again family! Click here to hop across and see all the stuff they do for persons like me who wanted an online business.
Did you know...
... that several smaller islands, called Cays, lie at various points off the coast of Jamaica? The most notable ones are the Pedro Cays and the Morant Cays - four in total.
This too, is yet another interesting fact from my 101 Intriguing Facts About Jamaica
book. So I speak about the website redesign earlier. Actually, I hinted at it a few weeks ago and wanted to make the big reveal during a livestream but things moved quicker than I thought - which is actually great! Yes, the new design is up and
running! The whole idea was to improve the look and feel and make it easier for you and all my website readers to navigate and of course, to find exactly what you are looking for. So, please take a few minutes to look around it, visit some of the links and then let me know what you think about it. And that's it for today , looking forward to touching base with you again real soon. Cheers! Wellesley Gayle P.S. Please consider joining
