Hey !
Happy Sunday to you, and yours, again my friend!
First, congrats to our amazing track and field athletes, they did us proud again!
(By the way if you want to see how we celebrate when Jamaica wins, look here 😊😊😊)
Anyway back to business, with a little flashback..
You know we are marching closer to Jamaica's 60th anniversary celebrations?
So what if I ask you about some of the most historic moments to date?
Would you be able to say?
I mean those that impacted or influenced Jamaica in some way or the other.
Chances are you may easily pick 5.
But how about 45? ☺
And yes, that's the featured article today.
Secondly, I extended the entry window for submission in our fun Jamaica60 short story/ editorial competition, but only by a day (1 day).
It now closes tonight (Sunday) at 11:59pm!
So if you were thinking of sharing in this memorable occasion, please click here to enter now.
And if you need any inspiration, here are the 13 entries so far!
You'll see that, yes the prizes are motivating, but its really about the engagement and love for Jamaica.
And speaking of prizes,
I'll grab the opportunity to say thanks again to my sponsors.
Super thanks also to these esteemed judges
.. they will get busy shortly☺
And now, the...

But few of us even noticed it, and those who do, calls it duppy fruit!
In this video, we explored this intriguing fruit, now recognized as a super food across the world, from how it is grown, to harvested and eaten - thanks to the Dragon Fruit Guru!
But wait until you hear the amazing health benefits - you might want to get a plant in your backyard today!
Here's the link (embedded below).

Featured Jamaican Product
You remember the Black Sapote fruit video right?
And then I did the Rose Apple, The Cashew, and now this, the Dragon Fruit! (You can find them here ) And lots more to come!
But that was a friendly reminder to me on how blessed and fruitful we are as a nation! So its not one product per se, but the extensive array of amazing fruits we have here.
And so, if not yet done, I suggest you take a look at my entire playlist of Jamaican fruits here.
This week's recognition goes to the generous sponsors of our Jamaica60 editorial competition (listed
above) but also to the judges and all the participants (and those to come)
Its a beautiful thing!
Thanks family!
... that a gene from the Jamaican click beetle,
locally called “Peeny-Walley”, is patented abroad and use for bioluminescence imaging in oncology, genetics and environmental sciences.
This, according to a newsletter from the University of the West Indies, Mona in April 2004.
This too, is yet another interesting fact from my 101 Intriguing Facts About Jamaica book.
