Featured Video!

From old engine oil and soda bottles to pocket lighters, this man in deep rural transforms old plastic waste into some of the most BEAUTIFUL toys, housewares and household items!

Certainly a one of his kind here in Jamaica!

I had the pleasure of meeting up with him during my Catadupa community tour feature earlier (You can watch that video here: https://youtu.be/AkSpnjtBRNU?sub_confirmation=1) and not only impressed but inspired.

So today I feature him in this special video on his own! His name is CataDoc!

Sorry if I come across to you like a broken record, but I tell you, our people are truly special, their creativity, ingenuity and inventiveness!

Do you think it came from the trials and challenges of the plantation system? Or before, or after?

Anyway, that's side note but you get the point. And CataDoc is just one of the many. I just wish that we have the systems in place to unearth these amazing people in our country.

So today I salute them again, the people like Mr. CataDoc!!! They truly are a proud product of Jamaica.

Recognition

I'm a little late (not the Jamaican fashion😁) but I'm taking the opportunity to show appreciation to yet another of my ardent followers.

Her name is Regina Doss-Rhymes!

She expressed her gratitude to my efforts here buy buying me a coffee recently.

Some might say, that's not a big deal, but trust me it is!

The token is one thing, but just reaching out to say she is thankful is huge for me and my motivation, especially when the going gets tough!

So thanks again Regina!

Fun Fact / Reminder

Did you know...

... that the parishes of Kingston and St. Andrew were amalgamated in 1923?
The union came into effect on May 1 that year.

So yes, today (May 1) is the anniversary🎉

Thought I'd share this bit of news with you...

Jamaica’s 60th anniversary of Independence activities was officially launched in London on April 25 with an entertainment package highlighting the island’s culture and heritage.

Some 200 persons attended the event held at White City Studio, which was addressed by Minister of Tourism, Hon. Edmund Bartlett, and Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Hon. Olivia Grange.

Among the performers were reggae artistes Carroll Thompson and Bitty McLean, poet David Neita, and saxophonist Lascelles James.

By the way, the independence activities are warming up so keep close.
