Digest Ezine: June 26, 2022
Happy Sunday to you and yours again !
I hope the past week was productive but you also got some 'me' time too.
I've been asked, quite frequently, about tours for schools, community groups and the like.
And inevitable, outside of the water-based ones, those I refer tend to fall into what we call culture tours!
Some entertainment, but typically lots of education and history.
We've put together a list of the best ones and today I share them with you, nine (9) of the top culture tours in Jamaica - from the
Rasta Indigenous Village to Culture Yard, its all here.
And yes, as you expected, I do have a few more insightful articles for you today ...

But please remember that I also have several more great content on the website via the blog, so
kindly stop by and check them out.
By the way, while on culture, I'll hasten to share with you that one of my ardent subscribers and personal friend, Tania Lou, has been selected
in the top 12 of the Jamaica International Independence Foreign Song Competition!!
Woot Woot!
Her song GIMME DI BLACK, GREEN AND GOL is creating waves in the space!
A big part of the competition is about votes though, so she asked and I promised to share it with you so you may listen and (if you also like it) vote for her.

By the way, I also did an exciting interview with her sometime ago, if you missed it you can find it (and get to meet her) here.
And now, the...
In this video I revisited the home of my Rastafarian friend, Ms. Watkins aka Dwata.
And yes, today she's about to show us how to make one of her signature products (certainly her most sought after) Breadfruit Flour - Jamaican Style! You'd never know it was this easy!
But more than that, we'll also learn about the amazing health benefits of breadfruit (and the flour) as well as some exciting ways to use the flour!
Here's the link (embedded below).

Featured Jamaican Product
By now I think you can predict me, right?
So we featured breadfruit flour in the video and the rest is almost obvious😊
Yes, today I highlight one the most versatile food we use in Jamaica!
Its the breadfruit!
And serial breadfruit lovers will tell you that the best tasting ones, the yummy, 'yellow heart' ones come from right here on the rock - the diaspora cannot get enough!
So today I highlight it as yet another interesting but highly loved product from Jamaica. You can actually read more about breadfruit here.
Big salute goes out today to my dear from Ms. James, we call her James-ie!
Yes, its the same lady!
So today I salute my friend and thank her for her tremendous love and support.
Bless up mi fren!
... that spanning the Rio Cobre river at the eastern end of Spanish Town in St. Catherine, Jamaica, is a bridge considered to be the oldest of its kind in the western hemisphere?
This is the Historic Cast Iron Bridge. The abutment of the bridge is constructed with cut stone while the bridge is cast iron.
It is about 81ft long and 15ft wide. This bridge was erected in 1801, at a cost of four thousand pounds!
This too, is yet another interesting fact from my 101 Intriguing Facts About Jamaica book.
By this time next week, I might have something special to share with you, so stay tune ok😉
But remember to check out Tania Lou's (Louise Bennett's prodigy) song and if you like it - vote for her at https://www.jiifsc.com/!
Here's it on YouTube
And that's it for today, thanks again for your valuable time again
See you next week!
