Happy Sunny Sunday again !
I'm hoping all is well with you and yours my friend?
Over the last few weeks you might have noticed a trend with the newsletters, have you?
Well, outside of the prior one about Bob Marley (for obvious reasons), I'm deliberately trying to share more of Jamaica with you, what to do, where to go, etc.
And today, I'm excited to introduce (or reintroduce) you to what I call my top things to do and places to visit in Jamaica (including videos).
In fact, I listed 16 (plus) of them!
Among others, the list includes, the...
And even more!
Plus my site visitors top pick!
And yes, we have lots more, but that's our featured article for this week!
And by the way, if you are heading my way and need some expert help or a local tour guide, please don't hesitate to let me know, I'd be happy to personally help or recommend someone- just reply to this email.
Remember also that I have several other new and insightful content on the website via the blog though, so please stop by and check them out.
And now, the...
Two weeks ago, I asked you to look forward to it, I call this one, "Bird Therapy🦜 at Rockland Bird Sanctuary".
In this video, I re-visited the beautiful and therapeutic, Rockland's bird sanctuary!
And this time no talk, no interview, just me, you and the birds!
Sixty (60) minutes watching the birds in their habitat!
Sixty (60) minutes of pure bird therapy!
Here's the link (embedded below)
And if you like the video, please LIKE it, and if you love it, please SHARE it with a friend or family member, the more the merrier!
Featured Jamaican Product
I may or may not have mentioned this before, but if I did, it probably worth the reminder... Did you know that Jamaica is home to over 300 species of birds?
And that 28 (and counting) are endemic to the island?
And more and more we are seeing visitors coming to explore and enjoy this aspect of our island!
So today, I highlight them as indeed another God-given product, the beautiful birds of Jamaica!
By the way, if you missed our article on the first visit to the bird sanctuary, I suggest you read it here! A wonderful piece of learning!
Today I recognize Manon Lennon!
Last week I woke up to an email from Patreon saying that she joined our private JamHearts community and committed to making a monthly support!
And not only is Manon (a Canadian) an ardent subscriber, I learned that she is also a Rotarian like myself!
Like certainly attract like - such a blessing!
She'll be in Jamaica soon too, so I'm looking forward to meeting her in person.
So today, I recognize her!
Did you know...
... that the town of Black River in St. Elizabeth was the first in Jamaica to have electricity?
This was supplied by the Leyden brothers in 1893. Power was generated from a plant which had a huge furnace and boiler.
Logwood, which was a major export of the parish, was used to generate steam from the engine which provided the power.
This too, is yet another interesting fact from my 101 Intriguing Facts About Jamaica book.
If you love authentic Jamaican products, you'll likely be happy to hear that there's an Artisan Village coming to Falmouth at the wharf!
The village will provide a location for artisans and entrepreneurs to produce and sell authentic Jamaican products.
Visitors will also be able to enjoy entertainment and food within the village, allowing for a complete cultural experience.
The proximity of the village to the Falmouth cruise ship pier, makes it easy for cruise passengers to traverse the area… and not have to worry about transportation… they just walk into it. I'm looking forward to that!!!
So anyways, that's it for today, until next week, please #KeepSafeAndSane
