A happy Sunday to you and yours again !
First (again) I say thanks to my YouTube community for their patience yesterday.
As you know, I typically premiere a new video at 6pm on Saturdays but yesterday was 'one of those' days.
In fact, I've been having issues with rendering the video since Thursday night, but thanks be to God, after much learning and trial, it came through, in the nick of time (in time for the 9pm reschedule), but obviously later than usual.
My YouTube community though was extremely understanding, so again I say thanks peeps.
Today though, I want to share something a little bit unusual with you (thanks to Sheree) not the regular run of the mill stuff, its (interestingly) the notable differences between the USA and Jamaica.
A great little learning especially for students of history and sociology.
Twelve (12) of them in fact - from Climate and Government, to food and culture!
Not only is this forgotten gem the home of Samuel Sharpe, one of Jamaica's national hero, it was also the hub of economic activity in South St. James, Jamaica during the heyday of the railway system in Jamaica.
And news is out that the railway system is about to resume!
Not only is the community reminiscing the good 'ole' days, they are anxiously preparing for the new 'glory' days.
Follow me as I explore this wonderful community, capturing yes, the rail station as well as the dam and a host of other historical attractions. Here's the link (embedded below)
And if you like the video, please LIKE it, and if you love it, please SHARE it with a friend or family member, the more the merrier!
Featured Jamaican Product
Still on the people of Jamaica and in line with the featured video, today I feature the Rastafarians - Natty, Boba, Nyahbinji or others
They are a niche and distinctive group that seems to have warmed the hearts of persons all over the world to Jamaica!
And yes, Bob Marley is the most notable, but there are many many more! Above that though, Jamaica is the cradle of Rastafarianism.
And so today we salute them, the Jamaican Rastafarians.
Not sure who or what is the belief system of Rastas, please read this article on my website.
Well she is back!
This time in a special feature I have on Jamaica Easter traditions.
It will premiere this weekend (Saturday), but I want to salute her even before, again for her willingness and dedication to serve.
I just love her vibe - thanks Ms. Rose!
Did you know...
... that Jamaica was the first country in the Western world to construct a railway? This happened even before the United States! Only 18 years after Britain.
This too, is yet another interesting fact from my 101 Intriguing Facts About Jamaica book.
Quick question... you watch my weekly YouTube videos right?
Great! I typically premiere them at 6pm Jamaica time on Saturdays but based on the feedback last night (Sunday) I'm tempted to change that time to 7pm, 8pm or even 9pm - Jamaica time.
So what say you? Should I leave at 6pm or later?
If so what time do you suggest?
I definitely seemed like most people prefer later.
Of course, I'll go with the majority, let me know my friend.
And that's it for today, thanks again for your valuable time, I hope I made it worthwhile 😊
See you next week! In the meantime, please remember to #KeepSafeAndSane!
