My-Island-Jamaica Digest Ezine: march 6, 2022
Happy Sunday to you and yours again !
And I say that despite what might be happening around us my friend.
You know I've come to know that there will always be happening across the world that will scare the daylight out of us, albeit as a result (or decisions) of a few.
There was a famous quote that said 'if it isn't one thing its another" - and now its war (which is likely to escalate) on the heels of a pandemic!
But we press on my friend, I rest on the promise that I might not know what the future holds but I know who holds the future!
So today, I go back on the journey to share some of the unique and best of Jamaica with you; this time I take you to St. Mary in the north, a relatively quaint parish.
In fact, most persons reading this will have no clue what or where that is.
But as Ven said, 'it may not be a key player in tourism, nor is it the home of fancy restaurants but surely one of those places that if you choose to stay there during your visit the laid back charm of the town will win you over', you'll definitely experience what I call, the real Jamaica!
And one way to do so is by checking out the eateries and restaurants in Saint Mary.
So today I share with you the best, the 10 best restaurants in St. Mary right now. If you happen to be staying, visiting or passing through, be sure to ask about these ok.
I'd also like to share the following articles with you as well. For some reason, I think you'll likely find them very helpful 😊
- Realtors in Jamaica | 10 Companies For Buying, Renting or Leasing
- Cook Like A Jamaican! | The Secrets Behind Jamaican Cooking, and
- The S Hotel Montego Bay | Luxury Accommodations On The Hip Strip
Remember also that I have several other fresh, juicy and helpful content on the website via the blog, so please stop by and check them
out.
And now, the...
Previously, I showed you how Mr. Atkinson, the 'Cocoa man', made authentic Jamaican chocolate sticks from cocoa beans, the old time way!
But in this video I'll show you, not just how he makes the Jamaican chocolate tea from it, but also shows his unique twist to it - using cane juice and fresh coconut!
We even got a taste😀
Here's the link (embedded below)
And if you like the video, please LIKE it, and if you love it, please SHARE it with a friend or family member, the more the merrier!
Featured Jamaican Product
Now this might surprise you but did you know that, according to the OEC, the top exports of Jamaica (just before covid) are
Aluminum Oxide ($966M), Refined Petroleum ($263M), Aluminum Ore ($89.5M), Hard Liquor ($86.7M), and Processed Fruits and Nuts ($49.4M), exporting mostly to United States ($594M), Netherlands ($201M), Germany ($173M), Canada ($134M), and Iceland ($120M).
Now hard liquor jumped out at me! As it suggested that outside of minerals, people seem to love Jamaican rums and rum blends really bad... and bad here means good 😊
Anyways, I salute the distillers and brewers.
I might as well grab the opportunity to share this with you then, 10 most favourite beverages made here with Jamaican rum😀
This one is a little more personal so bear with me as I salute my very good friend, former team member, Ms Mack in St. Ann's Bay, who delivered a bouncing baby boy earlier in the
week.
Congratulations to you, your husband and family my friend. I know he's surrounded by pure love!
I've been hearing a lot about the government of Jamaica planning to send farm workers to the US and it dawned on
me.
Did you know...
... that Lucea, the capital of Hanover, Jamaica, was an old maritime town and famous sea-port where sailors spent brief periods before setting sail to other ports? Oh yes it was!
This too, is yet another interesting fact from my 101 Intriguing Facts About Jamaica book.
Promised delivered!
I mean the old-time Jamaican chocolate video (see above)?
I hope you like it.
If you do, please remember to share it with you friends my friend, remember, the more the merrier!
So that's it for today, until next week, please continue to #KeepSafeAndSane
